Guatemalan-Puerto Rican artist Amy Correa Bell is a true multi-faceted talent who has captivated audiences throughout the United States and Latin America with her incomparable voice and brilliant personality that lights up any stage she performs on. Today the actor and singer release her latest piece, “Run It (Beat Ventriloquists Remix),” the immersive new remix of her 2022 hit and the first remix to be released from her highly anticipated upcoming album “Correa Bell.”
Produced by Beat Ventriloquists, the dynamic brother duo formed by James and Gene Bautista, this creative reimagining of “Run It” refreshes the song with gripping new emotion and electric energy. Channeling the sonic nostalgia of 1980s production and overflowing with engaging guitars and a grounding synth bass line, the track is also wonderfully modern, offering a futuristic, alternative edge that makes it the perfect companion for driving through the streets of LA at night.
Directed by Amy Correa Bell, the video for the “Run It (Beat Ventriloquists Remix)”, is a stunning video following the inward conflicts and journey of an artist coming to terms with her expression and accomplishments. It’s a bird’s eye view of the mind’s battlefield, with passion and vulnerability intertwining. The lush and picturesque California sceneries are a fitting backdrop to Amy’s silent emotion, expertly captured by Director of Photography Ron Lamar McPherson. We can run, but we find ourselves in the process.
“This song reminds me of summertime in the ‘80s, watching a John Hughes movie at the drive-in. It’s the atmosphere and mood that are captured by the Beat Ventriloquists,” Amy shares. “I’m really excited for people to experience ‘Run It’ through the eyes of expert producers Gene & James Bautista. Promising you won’t regret it.”
The original version of “Run It” was a family affair for Amy, as it was inspired by her own cultural roots and family history and produced by her brother, DJ and sound designer Les Correa (aka Les Les). The music video featured an appearance by their mother Juanita, who contributed to the visual aesthetic with a curated selection of Guatemalan artifacts and props that helped shape the saga on screen.
And the family connection continues with the remix, as Amy has had a fruitful working relationship with Beat Ventriloquists for nearly two decades, beginning in the early 2000s when her first group, Crazedotcom, would perform with the DJ support of the brother duo. They went on to join their talents to create songs together for her first solo EP, as well as others for her upcoming 2023 album.
